Approximately 60 people were injured when a loco train collided with a goods train inside the Pipalkoti tunnel of the Vishnugad-Pipalkoti Hydro Electric Project in Chamoli district, Uttarakhand. The collision occurred late Tuesday evening, involving 109 workers on the train.

All injured individuals are reported to be stable after evacuation. The trains, operated locally for transporting workers and materials, were part of a construction project by THDC (India). Indian Railways clarified that the incident is unrelated to their operations.

Ten of the injured were sent to a district hospital in Gopeshwar for treatment. The 444-megawatt hydroelectric project, located on the Alaknanda River, is expected to generate 111 megawatts through four turbines and is slated for completion by next year.
