A2A Receives Merit Certificate at Global District Energy Climate Awards in Washington for Brescia Decarbonization
A2A was awarded the 'Merit Certificate' at the Global District Energy Climate Awards in Washington for its decarbonization efforts in Brescia. The district heating system is recognized as one of the most advanced globally due to its integration of multiple renewable heat sources. Over the past decade, Brescia has significantly transformed its heating system, reducing coal usage and emissions. Currently, 83% of the heat supplied comes from renewable sources. A2A is also developing projects to recover heat from data centers.

A2A received the 'Merit Certificate' at the Global District Energy Climate Awards in Washington for its decarbonization of Brescia's district heating system, recognized internationally for its innovation and integration of renewable heat sources. The system, launched in the 1970s, has evolved significantly over the past decade, with 83% of heat now from renewables.
Emissions have dropped dramatically: CO2 by 73%, nitrogen oxides by 92%, and sulfur dioxide eliminated. A pilot project for heat recovery from data centers was inaugurated in June, expected to provide heat for 1,350 apartments.
