ABB Expands AI-Driven UPS Solutions in India for Data Centers
ABB is increasing its focus on AI-powered UPS systems for data centers, reflecting a significant growth in the sector. The company anticipates a surge in demand as data centers evolve, with revenue from this segment rising from under 1% to 9% since 2019.

ABB, a $33-billion electrification and automation company, has established a new factory in Bengaluru to develop uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems for data centers. The data center segment has grown rapidly, now constituting 9% of ABB's global revenue, up from less than 1% in 2019, with an annual growth rate of nearly 35%.
ABB is collaborating with Nvidia on a new 800-volt DC architecture aimed at enhancing power efficiency for high-density computing. The Bengaluru center employs about 4,000 people, with half dedicated to R&D, generating over 75 patents.
Innovations include software that reduces control system upgrades from three months to half a day and AI agents for various industrial sectors. The integration of AI into ABB's software is expected to improve operational efficiency across industries.
