ABB's HiPerGuard Medium-Voltage UPS Receives 2025 Power Innovation Award
ABB's HiPerGuard medium-voltage UPS has been recognized with the 2025 Power Technology Excellence Award in the Data Center Power category. This innovation addresses the power demands of large-scale data centers, allowing for improved efficiency and reduced infrastructure complexity.

ABB's HiPerGuard medium-voltage UPS optimizes power protection for large data centers, achieving 98% efficiency at voltages up to 24 kV. By utilizing a ZISC architecture, it simplifies electrical infrastructure, supporting high availability while reducing energy use and emissions, potentially decreasing emissions by 1360 tons over 15 years compared to traditional systems.
This system can centralize protection, reducing the need for multiple low-voltage UPS units and associated components. Its modular design enhances resilience, tolerating the loss of up to three modules without switching to bypass mode.
HiPerGuard also supports grid stability by enabling energy injection or absorption as needed. Deployment includes collaborations with Applied Digital in North Dakota and Nvidia, enhancing data center efficiency and performance.
