Abu Dhabi Ports Group, through its subsidiary SAFEEN Drydocks, has acquired full ownership of Balenciaga Astilleros Shipyard in Spain for $13.1 million. This acquisition consolidates operations in Spain and the Mediterranean, supporting expansion into the offshore wind sector.

The Basque-region shipyard, to be renamed Balenciaga Shipyard, adds nearly a century of shipbuilding experience and infrastructure, including two drydocks and a 105-metre slipway on over 25,000 square meters. Balenciaga Shipyard specializes in the prefabrication of large modules for offshore projects and constructing complex vessels, including Service Operation Vessels (SOVs). The deal aligns with AD Ports Group's partnership with Masdar on offshore wind projects and is expected to create over 50 skilled jobs while supporting an existing pipeline of specialized vessel projects.
