ACCIONA Launches Chile's First Zero Emission Hydrogen Generator for Codelco
FUEL CELLHYDROGEN
ACCIONA has begun operating Chile's first zero emission hydrogen fuel cell generator at the Carén reservoir expansion for Codelco's El Teniente Division. This unit, developed by EODev and distributed by KH2, aims to replace diesel generators, reducing fossil fuel consumption by 5,067 liters per quarter and preventing 13.6 tons of CO₂ emissions.
This initiative is part of ACCIONA's efforts to lower the environmental impact of construction and support decarbonization. The company has prior experience with hydrogen generators in other projects, including the Norte III Penitentiary Complex and the Centenario Bridge expansion.
