Adani Green Energy Commissions Largest Battery Storage System in Gujarat
Adani Green Energy has launched a 3.37 GWh Battery Energy Storage System in Khavda, Gujarat, marking a significant advancement in energy storage capacity. This installation is crucial for enhancing grid reliability and supporting India's renewable energy goals, as it will facilitate continuous power delivery and infrastructure for a net-zero emissions target by 2070.

Adani Green Energy Ltd (AGEL) has commissioned a 3.37 GWh Battery Energy Storage System at Khavda, Gujarat, which is recognized as the largest single-location battery storage deployment outside China. This facility integrates advanced lithium-ion technology and energy management systems, completed in ten months, with 1.37 GWh added in March 2026.
The system can provide energy for approximately one million homes for a day and assist in meeting peak demands in major cities. AGEL plans to expand its storage capacity to over 10 GWh in FY27 and aims for a total of 50 GWh by 2029. This strategic initiative supports India's clean energy transition and enhances the reliability of renewable energy sources.
