ADB Allocates $10 Million for Pan-Asia Power Grid Initiative
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is set to approve a $10-million grant for the Pan-Asia Power Grid Initiative, targeting enhanced cross-border electricity trade and renewable energy integration in Asia. This initiative aims to address the region's fragmented power systems and support the electrification of approximately 200 million people.

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is preparing a $10-million technical assistance grant for its Pan-Asia Power Grid Initiative, aimed at boosting cross-border electricity trade and renewable energy integration. This grant will facilitate the identification of power projects, strengthen institutional capacities, and promote regional cooperation among ADB developing member countries, including the Philippines.
The initiative, announced in May during ADB’s annual meeting in Uzbekistan, aims to mobilize $50 billion to interconnect national grids, integrate 20 GW of renewable energy, and enhance energy access for up to 200 million people. It is part of ADB's broader objective to mobilize $70 billion for regional energy and digital connectivity projects by 2035.
