Admedes Develops New Stent Weaving Machine with B&R Automation
Admedes has created a new generation of stent weaving machines that operate ten times faster than previous models, addressing the need for customized designs and rapid prototyping in the medical sector. This collaboration with B&R Industrial Automation focuses on enhancing machine flexibility and speed through advanced control systems and servotechnology.

Admedes GmbH has designed a new stent weaving machine capable of dramatically increasing production speed while allowing for dynamic changes in wire number and weaving patterns. The machine utilizes a control center based on the Automation-PC 910, coordinating 96 wheel assemblies powered by 32 Acopos-P3 servodrives and managing 384 magnetic switches for efficient wire transfer.
The synchronization of 96 servomotors on a CNC core was a significant engineering challenge, addressed through B&R's automation technology, resulting in machines that can produce prototypes faster and more economically. This advancement could enhance the ability of manufacturers to produce complex Nitinol stents, potentially reshaping production standards in the medical device industry.
