Advent Technologies and Airbus Expand Partnership for HT-PEM Fuel Cell Development in Aviation
Advent Technologies Holdings, Inc. has expanded its partnership with Airbus to develop HT-PEM fuel cell technology for hydrogen-electric aviation, aligning with Airbus' ZEROe vision for hydrogen aircraft by the mid-2030s. The collaboration focuses on Advent's Ion Pair™ MEA, which enhances efficiency and passenger capacity, while both companies conduct durability tests and prepare for full stack trials. This initiative aims to advance clean technology production and support global decarbonization efforts.

Advent Technologies Holdings, Inc. has expanded its Joint Development Agreement with Airbus to advance HT-PEM fuel cell technology for hydrogen-electric aviation. The collaboration supports Airbus' ZEROe vision, targeting hydrogen aircraft by the mid-2030s.
Advent's Ion Pair™ MEA, effective above 180°C, reduces system weight and drag, enhancing range and passenger capacity. Both companies are conducting durability tests and preparing for full stack trials to validate performance under flight-like conditions.
The technology's potential extends beyond aviation to applications in off-grid power, transport, and marine vessels. With R&D locations in California and Greece, the partnership aims to boost clean-tech production and create jobs, reinforcing a commitment to decarbonization in line with global climate objectives.
