AEA and MiQ Launch Ammonia Certification System to Promote Low-Emission Trade
The AEA Ammonia Certification System, developed in partnership with MiQ, aims to establish a global framework for certifying low-emission ammonia, enhancing transparency in international markets. The pilot phase began in October 2025 and is now open for additional participants.

The AEA Ammonia Certification System is a voluntary initiative designed for all entities within the ammonia value chain, focusing on carbon footprint verification and origin transparency. Launched in pilot phase in October 2025, it includes a global registry for managing certificates, with early participants preparing for audits.
This collaboration with MiQ enhances digital infrastructure for secure data transfer and traceability. The project aims to standardize practices and build trust in the low-emission ammonia market across multiple sectors and countries, leveraging various technologies such as electrolysis and CCS.
Participants from the Americas, Europe, and Asia-Pacific are involved. Potential observers interested in the certification framework can inquire for participation details.
