Aecon Group Inc. has secured the contract for a $205 million wastewater treatment plant in Ritchot, Manitoba, overseen by the Red-Seine-Rat Wastewater Cooperative, which includes Niverville and Ritchot. The plant will treat wastewater for up to 70,000 people, with the potential for future expansion.

Construction will replace existing lagoon systems, supporting an estimated 17,400 new housing starts and creating around 3,400 jobs. The budget includes $40 million from government contributions and a loan of up to $93 million from the Canada Infrastructure Bank. The final design is expected by March, with construction commencing this year.
