HYDROGEN

Ahn Seung-dae, a candidate for Pohang mayor and former Ulsan Vice Mayor, announced plans to revitalize Pohang's old downtown area through the construction of a hydrogen tram and a Marine Corps Convention Center. During a press conference on December 29, he identified the relocation of major public institutions as a cause for commercial decline in the city center.

Ahn proposed increasing the floating population by promoting a stop at Pohang for the ITX-Ieum train. The hydrogen tram project aims to connect Pohang KTX Station with the old downtown and the steel industrial complex in two phases, utilizing existing infrastructure to lower costs and improve accessibility.

Additionally, the Marine Corps Convention Center is proposed to be built on a 397,000 square meter site, which would include a memorial hall and a five-star hotel, enhancing cultural and tourism infrastructure while generating economic benefits. Ahn aims to strengthen Pohang's identity and foster growth in transportation and tourism sectors.
