Aikido Technologies to Launch Data Centers in Floating Wind Turbines by 2026
Aikido Technologies plans to deploy data centers within floating wind turbines in the North Sea, with a prototype expected by late 2026. This innovative approach could redefine data center locations, leveraging renewable energy and natural cooling solutions.

Aikido Technologies is developing a prototype data center housed within the legs of floating wind turbines, scheduled to launch off Norway by the end of 2026. Each turbine leg could accommodate a data hall with a capacity of 3-4 megawatts, totaling 9-12 megawatts for a three-legged platform, utilizing wind power and passive cooling from the North Sea.
The project faces challenges including marine corrosion and regulatory scrutiny regarding thermal discharge. A closed-loop cooling system is employed to manage heat, while battery storage and grid connections ensure power stability. A larger project off the UK may follow as early as 2028, contingent on the prototype's performance.
