Air Force Advances F-47 Fighter and T-7A Red Hawk Production Plans
The Air Force plans to peak R&D spending on the F-47 fighter and NGAP program by 2028, signaling a shift towards engineering development. Meanwhile, the T-7A Red Hawk has received production approval, marking a significant advancement in pilot training capabilities.

The Air Force's F-47 fighter program is set to reach a peak in R&D spending at approximately $5.3 billion in 2028 before declining to below $3 billion by 2031. Concurrently, the Next-Generation Adaptive Propulsion (NGAP) program will see spending rise to nearly $906 million in 2028, followed by a drop to $303 million by 2031.
The T-7A Red Hawk has received Milestone C approval, enabling a $219 million contract for the first 14 aircraft. This program aims to deliver 351 aircraft and 46 simulators over the next decade, with Initial Operational Capability targeted for 2027. The developments in both programs highlight the Air Force's commitment to advanced aerial capabilities and training systems, crucial for maintaining operational readiness and technological superiority.
