Air Force Seeks Lease for Data Center Development in Alaska
The Department of the Air Force is exploring leasing land for commercial data centers at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Eielson Air Force Base, and Clear Space Force Station in Alaska. A Request for Information was issued on February 17 to gather vendor insights before a formal procurement process.

The Department of the Air Force is assessing interest in leasing land for large-scale commercial data centers at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Eielson Air Force Base, and Clear Space Force Station in Alaska. These data centers will include utility infrastructure and energy generation components such as battery storage, distribution systems, fiber communications, and cooling technologies.
Issued on February 17, the Request for Information aims to collect vendor insights to inform market capabilities and land use decisions. This initiative aligns with executive orders promoting AI innovation and energy emergency response.
