Air Force Seeks Modernization of PLM Program Ahead of Siemens Contract Expiration in 2029
The U.S. Air Force is requesting industry insights to enhance its product lifecycle management (PLM) software ahead of the Siemens contract's 2029 conclusion. This initiative aims to standardize and consolidate systems to improve data management across weapon systems and locations.

The U.S. Air Force is exploring ways to optimize its product lifecycle management using Siemens Teamcenter software, currently facing deployment issues due to fragmented configurations across various bases.
An RFI has been issued to seek feedback from industry on addressing these challenges, including reactivating 6,000 licenses at key locations. The Air Force intends to implement a standardized data model and establish a Git repository for tracking changes, moving towards a DevOps environment with Scrum-based Agile development methodologies. While these changes signify a consolidation effort rather than a new system, the Air Force has clarified that the RFI does not guarantee future solicitations.
