Air Liquide is reportedly contemplating the sale of its bio-methane operations, which include 29 production units spread across the globe. The French multinational has engaged JPMorgan to oversee this potential divestment, although the company has refrained from making any formal comments regarding the matter.

According to sources, the transaction could be valued at around €500 million, inclusive of debt obligations. This consideration comes on the heels of Air Liquide's recent acquisition of Airgas for a substantial €2.85 billion, underscoring its commitment to an active portfolio management strategy.

The company views regular asset rotations as a vital mechanism for enhancing profitability, alongside price management and efficiency gains. In 2024 alone, Air Liquide has already executed 17 asset sales in contrast to 20 acquisitions, although its pace of transactions has slowed during the first half of the year, with only three divestments against seven new purchases. This trend illustrates Air Liquide's strategic focus on optimizing its operations while navigating the complexities of the market landscape.
