Airbus to Establish 30,000 m² Logistics Center at Port of Seville Following Decathlon's Departure
Airbus will occupy the 30,000 square meter logistics and storage center at the Port of Seville, previously vacated by Decathlon. Ismael Clemente, CEO of Merlin Properties, emphasized the ethical conduct of investment funds during a discussion at the Port of Seville's 'Diálogos Cátedra'.
He noted the growth potential of the logistics sector, stating that Spain has yet to build the necessary installed capacity. Merlin Properties manages logistics facilities at the Port of Seville and has plans to expand operations.
The company currently operates three data centers and has six under construction in Spain and Portugal, aiming for 112 megawatts of operational capacity by next year. Clemente highlighted the need for improved data center infrastructure in Spain compared to the U.S., and addressed the challenges of teleworking adoption in Spain, noting high office occupancy rates. The Port of Seville's strategic location presents unique logistical advantages.
