Akash Launches Early Access for Homenode, Enabling Decentralized Compute on Consumer GPUs
Akash has announced early access to Akash Homenode, allowing owners of GPUs like RTX 4090 and RTX 5090 to contribute compute capacity from personal devices. This initiative aims to expand decentralized computing and relieve energy constraints faced by centralized data centers. The open beta focuses on consumer-grade GPU providers and is part of the StarCluster initiative, targeting high-performance machine contributions without requiring extensive technical knowledge.

Akash has launched early access to Akash Homenode, allowing users with RTX 4090 and RTX 5090 GPUs to contribute compute capacity from personal devices. This initiative aims to expand decentralized computing and mitigate energy constraints of centralized data centers.
The open beta will onboard consumer-grade GPU providers as part of the StarCluster initiative, which seeks to create a globally distributed AI compute network. The platform simplifies participation by removing technical and cost barriers, enabling users to transform their machines into secure Akash provider nodes with a dedicated operating system. Akash is onboarding various GPU owners and encourages registration for the waitlist to support further hardware expansion.
