Alabama Fiber Network Partners with ASA for Project ELEVATE
Alabama Fiber Network will enhance broadband infrastructure under Project ELEVATE, improving connectivity for over 1,100 locations. This initiative aims to modernize education access across Alabama, impacting schools, libraries, and universities significantly.

Alabama Fiber Network (AFN) has been chosen by the Alabama Supercomputer Authority (ASA) to enhance broadband infrastructure for Project ELEVATE, which will connect over 1,100 educational locations. This partnership aims to modernize service delivery and customer support while improving network monitoring for schools and higher education institutions in Alabama.
Through a competitive RFP, AFN was selected to link more than 300 locations and nearly 100 hub sites, utilizing a statewide fiber backbone completed in October 2025. Deployment will occur in two phases: the first phase is scheduled for July 1, 2026, and the second for July 1, 2027. The collaboration reflects a significant investment in Alabama's educational technology infrastructure, potentially improving educational outcomes across the state.
