Alabama Power Partners with UWA for Electrical Safety Training in Black Belt Region
Alabama Power's Safe-T-Zone program provided electrical safety training to 75 first responders at UWA. This initiative aims to enhance emergency response capabilities in the Black Belt region, addressing critical safety issues related to electrical hazards.

Alabama Power's Safe-T-Zone program recently trained approximately 75 first responders at the University of West Alabama (UWA) on electrical safety. The training focused on managing emergencies involving substation fires, downed power lines, and generator back feed, utilizing a trailer that generates 14,400 volts for demonstrations.
Attendees included personnel from various law enforcement and emergency services in the Black Belt region. UWA's support of this initiative reflects a commitment to workforce development in the area, enhancing the capabilities of local first responders. This collaboration is expected to improve community safety and response efficiency amid limited resources.
