KESH, the Albanian Power Corp., has signed a partnership agreement with Électricité de France (EDF) and Agence Française de Développement (AFD) to develop an energy storage strategy, as Albania relies almost entirely on hydropower. The deal includes a €400,000 grant from AFD for technology evaluation and aims to improve renewable energy integration, supply security, and modernize the electricity system.
The partnership also focuses on operational efficiency and climate resilience. KESH's planned pumped storage capacity in the Drin cascade and Statkraft's project in Moglica totals 1.6 GW. A previous agreement was signed with AFD for Drin river cascade management.
