Algeria Targets 15 GW Solar Capacity by 2035 Amid Energy Diversification Efforts
Algeria aims for 15,000 MW of solar power capacity by 2035, driven by rising electricity demand and a desire to diversify energy sources.

Algeria plans to achieve 15,000 megawatts (MW) of solar power capacity by 2035 to reduce reliance on natural gas. The initial phase includes developing 3,000 MW through 20 projects across 12 provinces, with expected commissioning in 2026.
Additional capacity of 12,000 MW is targeted from 2030 to 2035. To support this initiative, Algeria has implemented policy reforms to attract foreign investment and enhance local solar manufacturing. This strategic direction is crucial for enhancing energy security and meeting future electricity demands.
