Alicante Port Authority Approves Tender for Green Hydrogen Production Plant

The Alicante Port Authority has authorized a public tender for the construction and operation of a green hydrogen production and supply plant at the port. The facility will enable the production, storage, and supply of green hydrogen, supporting clean technology implementation and decarbonization goals.

The Port Authority will allocate approximately 500 square meters at Dock 19 and an additional 3,300 square meters on the breakwater for sustainable energy generation systems. An optional 1,900 square meter area for renewable energy generators is also planned.

The concession period is set at 30 years, providing stability for the project's development and supporting hydrogen integration into port infrastructure. This initiative is part of the port's sustainability strategy, emphasizing digitalization, energy efficiency, and carbon footprint reduction.
