Alkimos Seawater Desalination Plant Milestone Achieved with Barge Arrival in WA
The Koch Government's $2.8 billion Alkimos Seawater Desalination Plant has reached a key milestone with the arrival of the jackup barge Beverley. This project aims to deliver 50 billion liters of drinking water for over 2.5 million Western Australians, supporting 1,500 local jobs and injecting $1.1 billion into the WA economy. The plant is on track for full operation by mid-2028, enhancing long-term water security in the region.

The Alkimos Seawater Desalination Plant (ASDP) in Western Australia has achieved a significant milestone with the arrival of the jackup barge Beverley. This vessel will aid in installing ocean intake and outfall structures for the $2.8 billion project, which will provide 50 billion liters of drinking water to over 2.5 million residents.
The ASDP supports 1,500 local jobs and injects $1.1 billion into the economy, including $65 million in contracts to Aboriginal businesses. The project is set to be fully operational by mid-2028, ensuring a reliable water supply for the growing population.
