altafiber Partners with Westerville for Fiber Network Construction
altafiber and Westerville, Ohio, have established a public-private partnership to build a fiber network, targeting 15,000 addresses. Construction is set to begin this summer, aiming for project completion within three years, enhancing local broadband access without direct city funding.

altafiber will construct a multigig fiber network in Westerville, Ohio, partnering with the city to serve approximately 15,000 addresses. The project will utilize altafiber's XGS-PON fiber technology, offering speeds up to 6 Gbps, and is expected to be completed in three years.
This initiative leverages existing municipal infrastructure without requiring significant financial investment from the city. The collaboration will also see altafiber establish operations at WeConnect, the municipal data center, creating a new revenue source. This expansion is part of altafiber's broader strategy, which includes investments exceeding $1.5 billion across the Midwest, and follows recent projects in other Ohio locations such as Grove City and Marysville.
