Altera and Arm Collaborate to Enhance AI Data Center Solutions with Arm AGI CPU
Altera and Arm have expanded their collaboration to integrate Altera's FPGAs with Arm's AGI CPU, targeting AI data center platforms. The Arm AGI CPU, featuring up to 136 cores, aims to deliver over two times the performance per rack compared to x86 systems and is supported by major tech companies including Meta and AWS. This initiative is expected to cater to the growing demands of agentic AI workloads, enabling high-density server configurations and significant capital expenditure savings.

This collaboration targets the demand for efficient computing solutions in AI data centers, with projections of up to $10 billion in savings per gigawatt of capacity. Arm's initiative is supported by companies like Meta, AWS, and Microsoft, and aims to accommodate increasing AI workloads. Initial systems are expected to be available in 2026.
