Alvance British Aluminium Increases Output at Lochaber Smelter Following US Tariff Changes
Alvance British Aluminium has increased output by approximately 10% at its Lochaber smelter in Scotland due to recent US tariff changes. The facility, owned by GFG Alliance, now exports around 50% of its production to the US, marking a significant shift in its trade strategy.

Alvance British Aluminium has raised production by about 10% at its Lochaber smelter in Fort William, Scotland, following US tariff changes. This facility, which has a capacity of 48,000 tons per year and is hydropower-operated, now exports nearly half of its output to the US for the first time.
The increase in production responds to new trade dynamics after a 50% global tariff on steel and aluminium imports was imposed by President Trump. The UK secured a preferential 25% rate, enhancing the competitiveness of UK metals in the US market.
