Amarillo's wastewater treatment project has moved into Phase Two after completing initial planning. The $1 billion initiative aims for a 2031 completion, with construction anticipated to begin in 2028.

The city of Amarillo has completed Phase One of the Hollywood Road and River Road wastewater treatment facilities, which included master planning and permitting analysis. Phase Two will focus on pre-design and conceptual design, with the city seeking a construction manager.
Future phases will encompass final design and construction administration. A professional engineering services agreement for Phase Two will be presented for city council approval on July 28. This project is critical for upgrading aging infrastructure, as officials aim to ensure effective wastewater treatment operations by the target completion date in 2031.
