Amazon EVS Integrates Microsoft Windows Server Licensing
Amazon Elastic VMware Service (EVS) now supports Microsoft Windows Server licensing for virtual machines. This integration facilitates migration to AWS and enhances operational flexibility.

Amazon EVS has introduced Microsoft Windows Server licensing entitlements for virtual machines (VMs) running Windows Server OS. Users can migrate or create VMs in EVS and obtain licensing directly from AWS, paying only for vCPU-hours used.
The service allows VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) to operate within Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) on EC2 bare-metal instances. Rapid deployment is achieved through a configuration workflow or AWS CLI, expediting workload migration and reducing operational risks.
This development aids organizations in meeting critical data center exit timelines while maintaining their VMware environment. The flexibility to add or remove entitlements offers cost management advantages as cloud environments evolve.
