Amazon's Data Center Project Approved by Environmental Tribunal in Chile
The Second Environmental Tribunal in Chile has upheld Amazon's $205 million data center project in Huechuraba, rejecting opposition claims. This decision allows Amazon to proceed with the construction, which is projected to have a 30-year operational lifespan.

The Second Environmental Tribunal confirmed the viability of Amazon's data center in Huechuraba, rejecting local opposition claims regarding the project's environmental assessment. The project involves an investment of approximately $205 million, covering an area of 10.9 hectares with a construction size of 21,350.07 m².
The tribunal found no interdependence between this project and a proposed high-tension line, which negated the need for a joint impact evaluation. Future high-tension infrastructure projects will require separate environmental assessments. This ruling may set a precedent for large-scale tech developments in the region, potentially impacting community relations and regulatory processes.
