AMD Provides $300 Million Loan Guarantee to Crusoe for AI Chip Acquisition
AMD will support Crusoe with a $300 million loan guarantee for AI chip purchases, enabling a 6% interest loan through Goldman Sachs. This will allow Crusoe to acquire AMD chips for a new data center in Ohio, built by 5C with Brookfield's backing. If customer acquisition fails, AMD will lease its chips back from Crusoe. The partnership reflects intensified competition in the semiconductor industry for AI infrastructure, following NVIDIA's similar strategies in supporting partners.

AMD is providing a $300 million loan guarantee to Crusoe to facilitate the purchase and deployment of AMD's AI chips. This loan, arranged through Goldman Sachs, offers a 6% interest rate, lower than what Crusoe could secure independently.
The funding will support the acquisition of AMD chips for a new data center in Ohio, constructed by Canadian developer 5C with Brookfield's support. Should Crusoe struggle to attract enough clients, particularly in AI development, AMD plans to lease its chips back.
This partnership signifies the increasing competition among semiconductor manufacturers to bolster AI infrastructure, mirroring NVIDIA's strategies in financial support and leasing arrangements. NVIDIA has also invested significantly in Crusoe, contributing to a $600 million Series D round in late 2024 and a $1.375 billion Series E round in October 2025, valuing Crusoe at over $10 billion.
