American First Refining Selects PCS for CDU Design in New Texas Refinery
Process Consulting Services has been awarded the contract for crude and vacuum unit designs for the new 168,000 bpd refinery in Brownsville, Texas. This facility represents the first new grassroots refinery constructed in the U.S. in over 50 years, focusing on hydrogen-powered processing of light shale crude oil.

Process Consulting Services, Inc. (PCS) will deliver crude and vacuum unit designs for the America First Refining (AFR) Project in Brownsville, Texas, which will process 168,000 barrels per day. As the first grassroots refinery built in the U.S. in over half a century, the facility aims to produce cleaner fuels through hydrogen-powered technology.
PCS's expertise in managing the unique challenges of shale-derived crude oil processing positions them to address operational intricacies effectively. The project could enhance U.S. refining capacity and support the transition to cleaner fuel sources, yet the complexities of shale processing may introduce operational risks that require careful management.
