American Resources Corp. Initiates Rare Earth Element Extraction from Coal Byproducts
American Resources Corp. has launched its subsidiary, American Rare Earth, to extract rare earth elements from coal mining waste. The company aims to tap into the valuable rare earth market using eco-friendly hydro-extraction methods at former coal sites in Kentucky.

American Resources Corp. has begun its efforts to extract rare earth elements from coal byproducts through its subsidiary, American Rare Earth. The initiative targets 10 former coal mine sites in eastern Kentucky, leveraging existing coal processing refuse where many rare earth elements are found.
Initial analysis indicates the capability to produce rare earth oxides comprising about 20% Neodymium, Praseodymium, and Dysprosium, alongside Cobalt and Lithium. The company’s hydro-extraction process is designed to be environmentally safe, improving water pH balance.
American Resources is also seeking a site in central Appalachia for its first commercial processing facility. The company's stock rose significantly, reaching a 52-week high of $4.93, following the announcement, illustrating heightened investor interest and potential market opportunities.
