AMP Clean Energy Seeks Approval for Battery Storage Unit in Fishguard, Pembrokeshire
AMP Clean Energy is seeking approval for a micro energy storage project at Fishguard Leisure Centre Car Park in north Pembrokeshire. The planning committee of Pembrokeshire County Council is recommended to approve the application despite local objections from the town council and residents, citing visual impact and safety concerns.
This project is part of a series of similar applications by AMP, which have been either registered or approved in the region. Each battery unit is designed to store 800kWh of electricity, potentially powering 200 homes for four hours during supply disruptions, and is required to be located within 50 meters of an existing substation for electrical connection. Recent objections highlight concerns over visual impacts and access during construction, while the project aims to enhance grid reliability by storing electricity during off-peak times.
