Ampeak Energy Secures Approval for 300 MW Battery Storage Project in Scotland

Ampeak Energy Ltd has received Section 36 consent from Scottish ministers for its 300 MW Mey battery energy storage system project in northern Scotland. The project will feature containerized battery units and ancillary infrastructure.
Financial close is expected in 2027/2028, with operations slated to begin by the end of 2029. The Mey project, along with the Uskmouth project in Wales, contributes to a total of 2.93 GWh of consented battery storage capacity. Ampeak's shares increased by 2.0% to 3.11 pence in London following the announcement.
