AMPYR and Revera Propose Battery Storage Projects Under Australia's EPBC Act Across Three States
AMPYR Australia proposes the 375MW/1,500MWh Swallow Tail BESS in New South Wales, while Revera Energy plans a 500MW/2,000MWh BESS in South Australia. Both projects aim for minimal environmental disturbance and are designed to support energy grid stability. The Swallow Tail project is located 70km north of Goulburn and will connect to the Transgrid Bannaby Substation. The Robertstown project, with the smallest footprint, is set to connect to ElectraNet's substation, focusing solely on BESS after solar PV viability issues.

AMPYR Australia has submitted an EPBC Act referral for the Swallow Tail BESS, a 375MW/1,500MWh facility in New South Wales, designed on agricultural land to minimize ecological impact. It will connect to the Transgrid Bannaby Substation via new transmission lines.
The project aims to operate for 20-25 years, with a focus on repurposing components during decommissioning. In South Australia, Revera Energy proposes a 500MW/2,000MWh BESS at Robertstown, benefiting from a prior development approval.
The project will utilize existing transport routes and has minimal vegetation clearance. Both projects prioritize environmental considerations and grid stability.
