AMTE Power, a UK battery manufacturer, is moving towards dissolution after a £2.5 million investment deal collapsed. Founded in the early 2010s, the company specialized in lithium-ion and sodium-ion cells for electric vehicles and energy storage.
It faced significant funding challenges, risking plans for a 200-job factory in Dundee. Following the failed deal with private equity firm Pinnacle, FRP Advisory was appointed as administrators. They sold AMTE’s operations to Dutch firm LionVolt, preserving approximately 20 jobs, while plans for the Dundee gigafactory have stalled. The company’s intellectual property, including trademarks and patents, is now set to be dissolved.
