Andalusia has initiated the COMPiTE project to promote green hydrogen as a key element in southern Europe's decarbonization strategy. Led by the Andalusian Energy Agency, this initiative is part of the POCTEP Programme, fostering collaboration between Andalusia and the Portuguese regions of Algarve and Alentejo.
The project aims to identify opportunities for green hydrogen industries, develop a cross-border renewable hydrogen roadmap, and implement a structured training program for workers in both regions. The University of Cádiz and the National Institute of Aerospace Technology will manage training efforts, converting existing expertise into green hydrogen skills.
Andalusia highlights its geographical advantages, renewable resources, and logistics as essential for establishing a southern European hydrogen valley. Other initiatives include the Andalusian Green Hydrogen Alliance and membership in Hydrogen Europe.
