The Andhra Pradesh government approved the Kamalapadu Pumped Storage Hydro Electric Project in Anantapur district with a capacity of 950 MW and a cost of Rs 7,376.74 crore. The approval allows Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corporation Limited (APGenco) to execute the project without separate Techno-Economic Concurrence from the Central Electricity Authority.

The project includes three units of 238 MW and two units of 118 MW, and aims to enhance grid flexibility and support renewable energy integration. APGenco will proceed with tendering and construction activities as part of the state's clean energy expansion efforts.
