ANDRITZ Hydro Expands Operations to Support India's Hydropower Growth
ANDRITZ Hydro is enhancing its local manufacturing capabilities in India by over 40% to meet the rising demand for hydropower solutions. The company aims to support India's target of 500 GW of renewable energy by 2030 through increased engagement in pumped storage projects (PSPs) and synchronous condensers.

ANDRITZ Hydro is executing seven PSP projects totaling 68.4 GWh (11,400 MW) for major clients, including Adani Green and Tata Power. The company is expanding its manufacturing capacity in India by over 40%, with completion expected in 2026.
As India seeks to bolster its renewable energy infrastructure, the government must address challenges like procurement processes and investment incentives to promote PSPs and hydropower projects. With increasing local sourcing capabilities, ANDRITZ Hydro aims to support long-duration storage needs essential for grid stability. The expansion aligns with India's green energy transition goals, highlighting the importance of strategic partnerships in overcoming industry challenges.
