Andøya Spaceport Plans Expansion Amid Rising Demand for Launch Capacity
Andøya Spaceport aims to increase its launch capacity beyond the current limit of 30 annual launches. The growing European market for space access and strategic partnerships highlight the urgency for enhanced capabilities.

Andøya Spaceport currently holds a license for 30 launches per year, but plans to expand this capacity. As of now, only one launch pad is operational, dedicated to Isar Aerospace, which has contracts for two missions with ESA and the EU Commission starting in 2026 and to launch two Norwegian surveillance satellites by 2028.
Isar Aerospace also has a deal with Planet for a launch scheduled for late 2026. However, the path to increased launch frequency faces challenges, including delays in Isar's testing schedule for the Spectrum rocket. The situation underscores the necessity for governmental support to create favorable conditions for future operations.
