ANRE Suspends Wind Farm Authorization for Aukera Due to Funding Issues Amid Calls for Energy Sector Reform
The National Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE) in Romania has suspended for the first time an authorization for a wind farm project by Aukera Project Company Epsilon due to the lack of proof of funding. ANRE's president, George Niculescu, emphasized a zero-tolerance policy for speculative projects hindering the energy grid. The applicant has three months to prove funding or the authorization will be revoked. The decision follows concerns raised by Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan regarding the disparity between installed capacity and technical approvals.

ANRE has suspended the authorization for Aukera Project Company Epsilon's wind farm due to insufficient funding proof. President George Niculescu stated this action is a clear message to operators stalling the energy network.
The applicant has three months to demonstrate financial backing, or the authorization will be deemed unfulfilled. This decision aligns with Bolojan's comments on the unsustainable ratio of 77,000 MW of technical approvals against 9,000 MW of actual production.
Aukera claims its project is financially viable, having invested over 4 million euros. The wind farm is part of a strategic 100 million euro investment in Romania, aiming to enhance energy storage and production capacity.
