Ansaldo Energia's FLEX4H2 Wins European 'Best Success Story' Award at Hydrogen Research Days 2025
Ansaldo Energia's FLEX4H2 project received the 'Best Success Story' award at the Hydrogen Research and Innovation Days 2025, recognizing its advancements in hydrogen integration for gas turbines. The technology demonstrates the capability to operate on fuel mixtures of up to 70% hydrogen and aims for pure hydrogen operation by 2030, enhancing fuel flexibility and reducing emissions through its Constant Pressure Sequential Combustion system.

The FLEX4H2 project, coordinated by Ansaldo Energia, won the 'Best Success Story' award at the Hydrogen Research and Innovation Days 2025. The award, given by the Clean Hydrogen Partnership, recognizes FLEX4H2's achievements in increasing hydrogen integration in gas turbines.
Testing has shown that sequential combustion in turbines can handle any mixture of natural gas and hydrogen, including pure hydrogen, positioning it as a viable solution for energy transition challenges. Ansaldo Energia aims to produce gas turbines powered by pure hydrogen by 2030, with current operation on fuel mixtures containing up to 70% hydrogen. The FLEX4H2 technology utilizes a Constant Pressure Sequential Combustion system, enhancing fuel flexibility, operational stability, and emission reduction, particularly with hydrogen-rich mixtures.
