Approval Granted for Battery Storage Project in North Roscommon
Arigna LDES Limited received planning approval for a battery storage facility in November 2024, despite local opposition. The project aims to enhance energy storage capabilities for the region, incorporating updated safety measures and environmental protections.

In November 2024, Arigna LDES Limited secured planning permission for a battery energy storage project in north Roscommon, comprising 56 battery containers and an IPP building. The approval is valid for 25 years and includes conditions related to noise, lighting, ecological safeguards, and decommissioning.
Despite opposition from the Lough Allen Conservation Association, which raised concerns about public safety and environmental impact, the planning authority deemed the safety measures adequate. The project could potentially enhance energy resilience in the area, but ongoing scrutiny from local groups may pose risks to its implementation.
