Arboreal Secures $40M to Expand Wood Construction Solutions in Latin America
The International Finance Corporation has invested $40 million in Uruguayan Arboreal to enhance wood-based construction product output. This investment will increase employment and promote sustainable forestry practices in the region.

The International Finance Corporation (IFC) has approved a $40 million financing package for Arboreal, a Uruguayan company specializing in wood-based industrial products. This package consists of $20 million from IFC and an additional $20 million from ILX Fund.
The investment aims to scale the production of thermally modified wood, supporting circular economy initiatives through biomass briquettes. Implementation is planned from 2026 to 2028, projected to generate a 15% rise in direct employment and around 185 temporary jobs in related sectors. The project underscores the importance of sustainable construction and responsible sourcing through Arboreal's FSC certification.
