ARC and ORNL Launch Exascale Foundry for Advanced Defense Manufacturing
ARC and Oak Ridge National Laboratory have established the Exascale Foundry to expedite AI-driven manufacturing for U.S. national security. This initiative aims to significantly reduce production timelines for critical components, enhancing defense capabilities.

ARC (Autonomous Resource Corporation) and Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) have formed the Exascale Foundry to promote AI-enabled manufacturing for defense applications. The partnership integrates ARC's ARCNet distributed manufacturing platform with ORNL's computing infrastructure, aiming to shorten production timelines for key components from years to months.
The first focus is on high-temperature nickel superalloy turbine parts for autonomous vehicles. Current manufacturing methods are slow and defect-prone; the new approach is expected to improve efficiency significantly.
The partnership also supports broader objectives of the Department of Energy's Genesis Mission, targeting advancements in materials like rare-earth-free magnets and sodium-ion batteries. This model may enhance domestic supply chains for national security.
