Arenko Reports Hybrid Renewables-plus-Storage Outperforms Standalone BESS
Hybrid renewable energy projects incorporating battery storage can exceed the revenue performance of standalone systems. This finding is crucial for European portfolio owners looking to maximize returns amidst market complexities.

Arenko has demonstrated that co-located battery energy storage systems (BESS) combined with solar and wind assets can outperform standalone BESS in revenue generation. Their Nimbus software, now used in 15 operational hybrid sites, automates trading and management of these assets.
For instance, a UK solar-plus-storage project increased grid connection utilization from 8% to 29%, achieving 83% export availability and ranking in the top 10% of UK battery projects for revenue. Wind-plus-storage projects face export constraints, but sophisticated optimization allows them to meet industry benchmarks with 70% export availability. The automation of trading in these projects has shown to significantly enhance performance and operational efficiency.
