Argentina and India Strengthen Strategic Partnership Amid Growing Trade Relations
Argentina and India have elevated their bilateral relationship to a strategic partnership, emphasizing economic ties and shared values. Trade between the two nations reached $6.34 billion in 2025, with Argentina becoming India's top supplier of edible oils, reflecting significant economic complementarity.

The bilateral trade between Argentina and India surged to $6.34 billion in 2025, marking a 36.77% increase from January to November. The relationship was formalized as a strategic partnership in 2019, following Argentina's opening of a General Consulate in Mumbai in 2009 and the establishment of an Agriculture Attaché office in Delhi.
India now ranks as Argentina's fifth-largest trading partner, with Argentina exporting commodities like soybean oil and lithium, while India supplies pharmaceuticals and machinery. Notably, Indian investments in Argentina's mining sector, especially in lithium-rich Catamarca province, are critical for India's electric vehicle supply chain. The shared commitment to combat terrorism and extremism is a cornerstone of their collaboration, with both nations actively supporting each other in multilateral forums, including the G20.
